BIPOC Portraits is a new weekly series in which Best of Vegan contributors Val & Mani Latifi profile BIPOC vegan creators to shed light on the unique challenges BIPOCs face in making the decision to embrace veganism.

Val & Mani are married attorneys by day and international plant-based cooking enthusiasts by night, and together they run Plant-Based Passport. They live in Houston, Texas with their rescue pug Mango. Val is of Filipino descent, and Mani is of Iranian descent. As BIPOC creators who have traveled to 33 countries and 5 continents, they aim to showcase plant-based versions of foods they’ve sampled during their travels, as well as dishes they grew up eating.
