25+ Vegan Chickpea Recipes That Aren’t Hummus
Today is National Chickpea Day! In order to celebrate the occasion, we’ve compiled a list of 25+ fully vegan chickpea recipes that are not hummus. Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love hummus, but we thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to show you how many other wonderful recipes you can create with chickpeas.
Chickpeas, also called garbanzo beans, are full of protein and fiber and they’re an excellent alternative to both chicken and fish in vegan recipes. They also shine in any vegetable centric dish and make for a wonderful gluten-free flour replacement in baked goods as well.
We’ve got both sweet and savory recipes for you and also included a few recipes made with each chickpea flour and aquafaba. In case you’ve never heard of aquafaba, it’s the liquid you’ll find in a can of chickpeas and it can be used to replace eggs and even whipped cream in sweet recipes!
